I love creative use of alternative media and this example from Germany takes the cake this month.
A German book publisher Eichborn attached small ultra-light advertising banners to 200 flies using wax. The banners fell off after a few hours so no harm to the flies except of course that it made them easier targets for fly swatters. Whilst the banners were very light they still added to the weight of the flies which meant they never flew very high and kept landing on people – which of course is exactly what they wanted.
This was done to promote their exhibition stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The campaign was designed by agency Jung von Matt and its been dubbed Fliegenbanner or Flyvertising for those into new trend jargon.
