Uniqlo opened its largest format store in Southeast Asia this week, making three stores in Singapore. The store is 1320m2 and stocks not only Uniqlo’s range of basics and the +J range from Jil Sander, but also a range of exclusive designer collaborations available only at this new store. The first limited edition collection will be from cult designer Kiminora Morishita.
313@somerset will also be the first store in SE Asia to showcase the Uniqlo baby collection. Also it will carry a far broader range of Heattech product – Uniqlo’s unique heat generation & retention fabric. Uniqlo have been developing this fabric over the last few year and aside from its properties & heat generation & retention, soft texture, moisture & odor control & stretchable comfort, modifications to the fabric now adds shape retention & static electricity prevention. The Heattech fabric is a special blend of milk protein & natural amino acids extracted from milk to provide a soft texture. Its antibacterial processing also curbs unpleasant odours and permits indoor drying. Since its launch in Japan in 2005, Heattech has grown phenomenally, selling 28 million pieces last year alone.
The store opened to queues in the hundreds, a pattern which appears to be continuing through the week.
