lonely planetLonely Plant have cut staff numbers by around 10% in the face of declining sales. That in and of itself is sad but not really that newsworthy. What we did find interesting was the statement by Stephen Palmer, Lonely Planet CEO, that the global market for travel was not expected to pick up anytime soon. In fact he said “Even the most optimistic forecasts do not predict any sustained recovery until 2010 at the earliest, and even then its likely to be slow and patchy”.

Not good news for the airlines or airport operators certainly!
