In an attempt to reduce credit card frawud, Visa have been testing a new card which looks like a mutant hybrid of a credit card and a pocket calculator.  The user enders their PIN number into the credit card itself and have a security code generated on the fly.  This means that if someone copies down your credit card details they’re useless. Even if they steal your physical card they still won’t know your pin to be able to generate the CCV.

The cards have a 3 year battery life but is unknown how well they stand up to pocket use, icecream dunking or any of the hell that credit cards get put through.

The new cards are being trialed in Europe and Australia.
