Single serve wines are nothing new but the new range from Volute are interesting in that they come packaged in 187ml aluminium bottles.  They come in three varieties: Red, White and Rose and are made from grapes from the Bordeaux region.  The angle being pushed by Volute is that these can be drunk anywhere, including no-glass zones.  They also probably have some advantages over glass as well for inflight use.

There are also plusses from an environmental pespective because aluminium can be recycled almost infinetly and it requires less fuel to transport than their heavier glass counterparts.  That in itself is probably another arguement for airlines to look carefully at this new packaging with the high fuel costs.
