V Australia’s strategy of attracting passengers by boasting the widest seats of any carrier flying from Australia to LA seems to be working. In an interesting approach from what many saw to be a “foreign” airline in the beginning, V Australia have also presented themselves as contemporarily Australia – challenging Qantas’ positioning as the Spirit of Australia.
On board V Australia not only do you have more space, you can eat vegemite & lamingtons. And if you’re in Business Class you get complementary thongs – no the ones you wear on your feet!.
The bathrooms buzz with music and wallpaper which hides little koalas amidst the pattern – if you want to spend long enough in there peering at the wallpaper!
In business class there’s even a women’s only toilet. I’ve heard a lot of people question this decision on the part of V Australia but as a woman, frankly its clear a female had a role in setting the brand standards for the new airline. Only another woman would recognise how much we women don’t appreciate the unique aromas which seem to eminate from the masculine body after a few hours of flying and a few bottles of scotch.
Of course, as you frequently find now there’s a self service snack station in economy and the latest on-demand touch screen entertainment systems. What I did like however is the seat-to-seat chat function which was incredibly handy to send electronic notes to a friend flying in economy 🙂
