icanA new self-chilling can could be a boon for airlines, airports and indeed any retail location. Currently, selling chilled drinks not only requires bulky refrigerators but also power outlets or a generator. This may be a thing of the past with the first self-chilling can created by Tempra Technology and Crown Holdings, which is apparently near to commercialisation.

Known as I.C.Can™, the self-contained can takes up to 500ml & within 3 minutes of activating will drop the temperature to 16.7C or 30F.

The cans are non-toxic, 100% safe and eco-friendly. The company also says they are easy to operate, transport and store, using no carbon dioxide, CFC, HFC or any other compressed gas.
