airportWith aeronautical revenue declining in the face of dropping pax numbers, airports are not only looking for new ways of generating money but also ways of saving it. Some of gotten pretty innovative.

The Cochin International Airport in India is growing medicinal plants instead of grass. They save money trimming the grass plus get a royalty of 10% of sale of the crop.

Rajiv Gandhi Airport in Hyderabad turns off the lights on the runway when visibility is clear. Delhi Airport has apparently partially introduced this system too.

Numerous airports of course have also taken to video conferencing over flying to meetings, and there have been a raft of the normal cost saving type measures.

A sense of place?

Well I guess you can't criticise this Souvenir concession at Minneapolis St Paul Airport for not having a sense of place. A sense of taste though?...

Weird airport art

Not sure which airport this is at, it came from Twitter. I assume its Nebraska or somewhere similar. Odd.....
