Flying JetPaws – JetBlue playing to pet lovers

2092153154_131f6337f4_mWhilst most airlines are increasing charges for overweight people, bags, pets and anything else they can think of, JetBlue is taking the opposite tack and incentivising people to bring their pets on holidays.

JetBlue’s new JetPaw’s programme gives passengers an extra two TrueBlue points each way if you bring your four-legged friend with you.  You’ll get a bag tag for your pet carrier when you check in. They will also send you tips & tricks via email once you book and they even include information on Travel Petiquette, pet-friendly hotels and the location of nearby animal hospitals.

In reality its really just marketing an existing pet policy but doing it in a way that makes you feel as if the airline actually values your doggy as much as you do.  The thing too is people fall for it – in droves – and it builds that revenue stream as well as potentially converting pet lovers to JetBlue and all very cheaply.

winners_JoeKramerJetBlue also ran a competition on their website for pet/owner lookalikes which generated quite a viral thumb_JB9001response in reposting images for JetPaws.  Plus they’ve also introduced a range of pet travel related products from pet carry cases, to pet travel kits & a range of pet couture.  Check it out
