missoni_ed1Missoni joins the list of designers opening hotels.  Today they officially opened in Edinburgh, Scotland and will be opening later this year in Kuwait then South Africa.

The Missoni hotels are actually run by Belgium based Rezidor Hotel Group who set up a licensing agreement back in 2006 with Missoni to open around 30 hotels over the next 10 years.  missi4

The Missoni in Edinburgh offers 136 rooms & suites based around a palette of black & white with animated bursts of colour. Of course the bathrooms showcase the Italian design house including amenities scented using a Missoni fragrance, Missoni bathrobes & slippers. The signature restaurant, Cucina, is at the heart of the hotel & offers authentic Italian dishes, served of course on Missoni crockery. And inkeeping with the Italian style, missoni_hotelservice is not only personalised but also anticipatory – the new trend in superlative hotel service which goes beyond beying responsive and verges on the realms of mind reading.

All in all its a rather unique combination of Missoni brand experience & superior luxury boutique hotel style which no doubt will grow the Missoni brand.missi6

In another innovative move, the “allinc” room rate includes breakfast, laundry, high speed internet, free local calls, movies on demand and the entire contents of the minibar.  All this plus a room rate starting at GBP216 per night – which really is quite reasonable for the location.

Luxury isn't collapsing under pressure. It's reorganising around a different kind of strength. Here's what that actually means.

Luxury Under Pressure

Luxury has always operated by a different logic than the rest of the market. Where most consumption responds to price, luxury responds to meaning. The relationship between cost and demand runs in directions that conventional economics finds awkward. Price increases...

The headline numbers still look strong. The decision-making process behind them has fundamentally changed.

When Travel Becomes a Calculation

Travel isn’t declining. It’s becoming more deliberate. The question travellers are asking at the start of the process has quietly changed, and it’s reshaping the industry in ways aggregate demand figures don’t show.
