Whilst slankets have been around since 1998, they’re now becoming all the rage – no I’m not kidding here. In blogs around the world recently, they’re being touted as everything from the ultimate hotel ammenity (to replace the bathrobe) to being the perfect inflight accessory for international flights.

Now I’m not too sure about their role in hotels but on planes I think they’d be terrific. You see I love flying business class (or even better first class) whenever I can but one of the downsides of this area of the plane is the horrifying sight of 60+ year old women running around in their bra & knickers while they change into their pyjamas – or even worse are those men who’ve obviously spent more time at the boardroom table than on the golf course, in their jocks!.

Its one of the reasons I will not sit in the middle row – whichever way you face you end up with an eyefull of dirty jocks or grandma knickers!

So if the airlines gave slankets, not only could people wear them over their pyjamas (which is always a better look than following the bouncing boobs down the aisle), but people could also change into their pyjamas under them and give the rest of us a visual break.

Long live the slanket!
